Tundra Wolves

3D printing to the rescue For my Halpi campaign I included a set of light cavalry to my army. That means wolves! The tundra wolves from Mantic, awesome looking and metal as they are, were a little too expensive to make two regiments.  I went out to look for some wolves on MyMiniFactory and found me some wolves . These beasts then needed to be printed. After trying to find a service I turned to my friend Maikel who could help me out.  Three models, 18 units to go over 75% MMR. That's a lot of the same... No worries, Maikel mirrored the models and suddenly we had 6 models, three each and presto! Primed! Some paint. Better make some friends quick. Ready to go on a base. Basing the beasties The actually most interesting part of this build is the base. Because these regiments are exactly two troops in size and number, we can break them up to use them in other configurations. Thank you Vince for your inspiration on this. What I wanted was to create a whole, that felt like a solid ba...

Hrimm - a journey in paint

When I was looking to acquire a Frost Giant for my army, they were all sold out. After contacting my newly made friend Maikel at CCGWinkel.nl , he advised me to get a DnD model from steamforged. And boy was I in for a treat: After playing with him a few times, it was time to start working on him for my hobby goals of the Halpi campain as well as just because he is awesome. His base is a little too big. It is a 100mm circle and it needs to be a 75mm square. This still needs to be fixed. I wanted to keep in with the spirit of the original blue skin of the Mantic design. I also want it to match the dark blue uniforms of the rest of my army. So blue on blue it was. I am far too noobish to try NMM, so I stuck to my trusty Vallejo metallics for all metal parts. Next up was wearing down the leather of this wild giant. Nobody has time to get them repainted pristine blue all the time right? This was my first attempt at highlighting not just with lighter colour, but shifting from blue to brown. ...

Hobby goals for Halpi

The hobby - goals I have three hobby goals for the Halpi campaign.  Clansmen My clansmen are a little under developed.  I need a horde so 35 models multi based. I have like three done already! Hrimm, the grey, for now Although he is not in my main army, hopefully he will make a guest appearance somewhere along the way.  He is looking extra frosty and grey right now, but I want him in the colours of the army. Landscaping With the static grass helping to camouflage the tile edges, the green fields/highlands themed battle board is nearly ready. Just look at those nice fields, ready for soaking in blood. For the Halpi campaign I would love to cooperate on some other terrain however. I would like to go ABYSSAL! So if anyone is interested in building the Abyss, I would love to make the pile of Polystyrene into some lava, glowing emerald rocks and magical radiance.

Chapter 1 - Strangers in the night A cold wind was blowing through the camp. A cold wind was always blowing in the Howling peaks. Through drifts of flurries Thegn Jabal Magnius looked at his men, women and trolls. They were a small band, that should keep them swift. The siege of Chill had seemed to last forever. Stuck outside the city, with the Abyssal dwarf army between them and the wall, the band had been forced to roam around, trying to find some way to break through or help the besieged. It was all in vain, the Dwarfs and their interminable digging and ringed the entire city in trenches. Nowhere to pass through, no chance of fighting through either, for that their force was too small. At least they’d had food, those inside the city were not so lucky, their stocks dwindling as the months drew on. The band was lucky, but with that luck came survivors remorse. ‘My Thegn’, said Eldrid, walking up to him, ‘can I build you a fire?’. ‘Aye, this wind somehow feels more chilling...
